Basketball

Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, typically consisting of five players each, compete to score points by shooting a ball through the opposing team’s hoop, elevated 10 feet above the floor. It is played on a rectangular court, divided into two main sections by the mid-court line, with a hoop at each end. The game involves a combination of skills including dribbling, passing, shooting, and rebounding. Points are scored by making field goals from within or beyond the three-point line, or by shooting free throws awarded after certain fouls. The objective is to outscore the opponent within a set duration, usually divided into quarters or halves. Basketball is known for its fast pace, teamwork, and strategic play, and it is widely played recreationally and professionally, with major leagues including the NBA (National Basketball Association) and various international competitions.
